Bupati Cirebon, Drs. H. Sunjaya Purwadi Sastra, MM. M.Si memimpin upacara Peringatan Hari Pendidikan Nasional Tingkat Kabupaten Cirebon Tahun 2014 di Lapangan Ranggajati Sumber, Jum’at (02/05/2014) dengan tema “Pendidikan untuk Peradaban Indonesia yang Unggul”.
Dalam sambutan Mendikbud RI M. Nuh, Bupati Cirebon menyampaikan ucapan “Selamat Hari Pendidikan Nasional, tanggal 2 Mei 2014” semoga segala ikhtiar kita yang terus menerus untuk memajukan dunia pendidikan yang semakin terjangkau, semakin berkulitas di seluruh jenjang pendidikan bagi seluruh rakyat Indonesia dapat segera membuahkan hasil.
Selanjutnya, ada dua hal yang sangat mendasar dalam dunia pendidikan. Pertama, yaitu terkait dengan akses mendapatkan layanan pendidikan yang dipengaruhi ketersediaan dan keterjangkauan. Beberapa kebijakan dan program seperti BOS (Bantuan Operasional Sekolah) untuk pendidikan dasar dan menengah, bantuan siswa miskin, bidik misi, pengiriman guru untuk daerah terpencil, terdepan dan tertinggal, melalui SM3T, bantuan operasional untuk perguruan tinggi negeri, dan pendirian perguruan tinggi negeri baru dan sekolah berasrama merupakan sebagian dari upaya meningkatkan akses secara inklusif dan berkeadilan, dan program itu menunjukkan hasil yang menggembirakan. Ditandai dengan kenaikan angka partisipasi kasar anak-anak yang bersekolah baik pada tingkat SMP/MTS, SMA/K dan perguruan tinggi.
Sedangkan yang kedua, yaitu terkait dengan kualitas pendidikan yang dipengaruhi oleh tiga hal, yakni ketersediaan dan kualitas guru, kurikulum, dan sarana prasarana. “Untuk itu, diterapkan beberapa program antara lain pendidikan dan pelatihan guru berkelanjutan, penerapan kurikulum 2013, dan rehabilitasi sekolah yang rusak,” ucapnya.
Diakhir sambutan, Bupati mengajak untuk meningkatkan upaya, kerja sama, dan keikhlasan kita dalam memberikan layanan pendidikan dan kebudayaan kepada masyarakat.
Hadir dalam upacara peringatan tersebut Wakil Bupati Cirebon H. Tasiya Soemadi, Ketua DPRD Kab Cirebon H. Mustopa, SH, Kapolres Cirebon AKBP. Irman Sugema, Muspida, Kepala OPD/Camat se-Kabupaten Cirebon dan undangan lainnya.
