Peran sepeda sebagai alat transportasi pada zaman dahulu sangatlah penting, dan kini Pemerintah Kabupaten Cirebon pada acara hari ulang tahunnya yang ke 531 telah mengubah alat transportasi zaman dahulu tersebut menjadi alat olahraga dan wisata dengan digelarnya acara Sepeda Saba Desa pada hari Minggu, 7 April 2013 dengan mengambil start dan finis di Lapang Ranggajati Sumber melewati rute jalur Jl. Sultan agung, Jl.Fatahillah, Jl Ki Ageng Tepak, Jl. Plumbon Raya dan kembali ke Lapang Ranggajati.
Kemeriahan bersepeda ini diikuti oleh ribuan sepeda baik sepeda dengan beraneka ragam jenis sepedanya seperti sepeda sport, sepeda ontel dan sepeda kumbang ikut serta mewarnai sepeda saba desa ini.
Pada kesempatan tersebut, Bupati Cirebon Drs. H. Dedi Supardi, MM mengatakan bahwa digelarnya sepeda saba desa yang dilaksanakan dalam rangka hari jadi kabupaten Cirebon yang ke 531 bertujuan memperkenalkan desa-desa produktif yang ada disekitar ibu kota Kabupaten Cirebon kepada masyarakat luas, khususnya masyarakat komunitas pecinta sepeda baik sepeda sport maupun sepeda ontel sehingga pada akhirnya nanti para investor dapat menanamkan modalnya di kabupaten Cirebon sehingga dapat meningkatkan tarap hidup dan ekonomi masyarakat Kabupaten Cirebon.
Sedangkan Kapolda Jawa Barat pada kesempatan tersebut mengatakan salah satu alat yang serba guna yang sekarang hanya digunakan untuk berolahraga kalau kita lihat dari sejarahnya merupakan alat yang benar benar sebagai alat transportasi yang ramah lingkungan serta tidak terlalu membahayakan atau sebagai penyebab kecelakaan.
Kegiatan tersebut diakhiri dengan pembagian hadiah dan door prize serta dihibur dengan penampilan artis dangdut.
