Dalam rangka memperingati hari lahirnya Nabiyullah Muhammad SAW, masyarakat Gegesik mengadakan arak-arakan panjang jimat yang merupakan tradisi tahunan dan dilaksanakan pada hari Kamis 8 Januari 2015.
Kegiatan tersebut dihadiri oleh Camat Gegesik, sesepuh masyarakat Gegesik, kaum adat, Pejabat Pemda Kabupaten Cirebon, Muspika Kecamatan Gegesik, Kuwu se-Kecamatan Gegesik, masyarakat desa sekitar, juga wisatawan lokal dari Kabupaten Indramayu, Kuningan, Kota Cirebon serta Majalengka.
Ketua pelaksana Pelalan, Kaur Kesra Desa Gegesik Lor Tarman dalam pemaparanya mengatakan acara tradisi masyarakat Gegesik mengarak pusaka berupa Gruda adalah adat-istiadat para sesepuh masyarakat Gegesik secara turun-temurun setiap tahunnya merupakan agenda tahunan yang dilaksanakan pada tanggal 17 Maulid Nabi dan kegiatan puncak acara peringatan Maulid Nabi.
Sedangkan menurut Camat Gegesik bahwa kegiatan atau karnaval ini merupakan agenda tahunan yang di lakukan masyarakat Gegesik yang bertujuan untuk mempererat silaturahmi antara kuwu-kuwu, masyaraka
t Desa Gegesik dan para sesepuh tokoh masyarakat yang mengetahui sejarah Desa Gegesik.
Dari rangkaian kegiatan tersebut sebelumnya telah dilaksanakan kegiatan seperti bakti sosial, khitanan masal, ceramah keagamaan serta kegiatan-kegiatan pertunjukan rakyat tradisional berupa massres (sandiwara). Kegiatan tersebut juga mementaskan berbagai kesenian tradisional dengan tujuan melestarikan kebudayaan daerah yang bisa dijadikan duta seni bagi bangsa khususnya Kabupaten Cirebon.
Selanjutnya dilakukan penilaian hasil kreasi arak-arakkan dan kegiatan tersebut diakhiri dengan doa bersama untuk memohon kepada Allah SWT agar kita senantiasa diberikan berkah dan rahmat serta diberikan hasil panen melimpah di tahun-tahun berikutnya.
