Kempek, 08 Januari 2015 berlangsung pembukaan Perkemahan Regu Penggalang Ma’arif Nu Nasional dengan tema “Sako Ma’arif Bersatu, Berkarya, Membangun Karakter”. Acara tersebut dihadiri oleh Menteri Agama, Menteri Pemuda dan Olahraga, Menteri Sosial, Menteri Pendidikan Tinggi Riset Dan Teknologi, Menteri Tenaga Kerja dan Transmigrasi, Ketua Pengurus Besar Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU), Wakil Gubernur Jawa Barat, Bupati Cirebon serta undangan lainnya. Sebagaimana yang disampaikan oleh K.H. Arifin Junaedi selaku ketua panitia penyelenggara Perkemahan Regu Penggalang Ma’arif NU Nasional (Pergamanas 1) Tahun 2015 diikuti 3.980 regu dan tidak menutup kemungkinan jumlahnya akan terus bertambah karena pendaftaran masih dibuka serta ada beberapa kontingen yang masih dalam perjalanan menuju lokasi perkemahan di Pondok Pesantren KHAS Kempek Kabupaten Cirebon.
Dalam sambutannya, Wakil Gubernur Jawa Barat H. Dedi Mizwar menyampaikan bahwa mempersiapkan generasi masa depan merupakan upaya yang harus dilaksanakan secara berkesinambungan. Membangun generasi masa depan tidak hanya difokuskan pada aspek wawasan dan pengetahuan namun hal yang lebih penting adalah membangun karakter sebagai generasi muda harapan masa depan.
Ketua PBNU Prof. Dr. K.H. Said Aqil Siradj, M.Ag, mengatakan arti dari acara atau aktivitas ini adalah kita bangun semangat nasionalis bangsa
berkarakter yang mengenal dirinya dengan baik yang mandiri mampu negosiasi mampu berdebat dengan siapapun yang semuanya itu untuk menjaga keutuhan Negara Republik Indonesia. Seperti apa yang pernah dikatakan oleh K.H. Hasyim Ash’ari pendiri Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) bahwa semangat Islam tidak boleh dipertentangkan dengan semangat kebangsaan bahkan semuanyan itu harus saling memperkuat, beliau juga berpesan bahwa semangat Islam dan semangat nasionalis harus dua-duanya disinergikan, Islam tanpa nasionalis belum tentu mempersatukan umat. Sebagai contoh Negara Afganistan yang penduduknya 100% islam tidak pernah bersatu bahkan perang saudara berkelanjutan karena tidak mempunyai semangat komitmen nasionalis untuk menjaga dan mempersatukan negaranya, demikian dengan Somal di Afrika Timur 100% penduduknya Islam perang bertahun-tahun, lalu sama halnya dengan Iraq, Syiria dan Libya tidak mempunyai semangat nasionalis untuk komitmen menjaga keutuhan negaranya.
Sementara itu Menteri Pemuda dan Olahraga H. Imam Nahrawi, S.Ag membacakan Dasa Darma Pramuka serta berpesan kepada seluruh peserta Pergamanas ini bahwa harus senantiasa senyum dan semangat dalam menghadapi cuaca yang tidak menentu entah itu panas atau hujan pada saat mengikuti perkemahan tersebut. Setelah memberikan pesan-pesannya, Menpora melakukan tendangan bola ke arah peserta Pergamanas dan peserta diminta untuk menangkapnya yang kemudian akan diberikan hadiah serta berjanji akan memberikan bola kepada seluruh sekolah madrasah dengan harapannya ingin sekolah-sekolah madrasah dapat berprestasi juga di bidang olahraga, bukan hanya di bidang akademik.
Acara dilanjutkan dengan upacara resmi pembukaan Pergamanas dan dihadiri dengan pertunjukan seni tradisional Cirebon seperti tari topeng dan lain-lain.
