Dalam rangka mengenalkan dan mengembangkan budaya lokal terhadap masyarakat Cirebon, Dinas Kebudayaan Pariwisata Pemuda dan Olahraga Kabupaten Cirebon mengadakan Pagelaran Wayang Kulit Purwa pada Sabtu malam, 14 Juli 2012 di Alun-Alun Trusmi Kecamatan Plered Kabupaten Cirebon.
Sekretaris Disbudparpora Kabupaten Cirebon Drs. H. Made Casta, MM dalam sambutannya menyampaikan ucapan terima kasih kepada Provinsi Jawa Barat khususnya Disparbudpora yang telah memberi apresiasi kesenian kepada masyarakat Trusmi. H. Made Casta juga menjelaskan sebuah tarian yang disebut Baksa yang menggambarkan awal membuka pertumbuhan tempat yang kemudian menjadi sebuah desa yaitu Desa Trusmi yang memiliki kekentalan budaya dan desa jumenengnya Mbah Kuwu Cirebon pada akhir hayatnya.
Sedangkan Kepala Disparbubpora Provinsi Jawa Barat menggambarkan sejarah singkat Desa Trusmi yang merupakan desa pariwisata dan kebudayaan, karena desa ini tempat bergulirnya nilai-nilai ekonomi dan kerajinan industri yang kreatif seperti batik trusmi yang mewarnai batik nasional. Beliau juga menambahkan kegiatan ini digelar karena Jawa Barat memilki kesenian yang seperempatnya sudah hidup dan berkembang di masyarakat. Pementasan Wayang kulit merupakan apresiasi yang mengandung nilai-nilai kearifan lokal (local genius) diantaranya ada lima S yaitu silih, sindir, siloka, sindu dan sasmita. Ceritanya menghadirkan kehidupan sehari-hari diantaranya peran antagonis dan protagonis yang dapat dijadikan contoh dan tuntunan kehidupan kita.
Kegiatan ini juga dilaksanakan dalam upaya melestarikan secara dinamis yaitu bukan hanya memelihara tetapi mengembangkan jenis-jenis kesenian yang hidup di daerah. Kegiatan ini diharapkan kedepannya harus ada kreasi-kreasi baru sehingga dapat hidup dan berkembang sesuai dengan jamannya dan diharapkan juga dapat mendorong Provinsi Jawa Barat sebagai daerah andalan budaya dan wisata.
