Dalam rangka peningkatan pembinaan serta pengkaderan bibit atlet di Kabupaten Cirebon pada hari Selasa tanggal 21 April 2015 bertempat di Gelanggang Olahraga Ranggajati (GOR) Sumber dilaksanakan kegiatan Olimpiade Olah raga Siswa Nasional (O2SN) tingkat SD/MI dan SMP/MTs se-Kabupaten Cirebon yang akan menggelar 10 cabang olahraga diantaranya sepak bola, bulutangkis, atletik, dan lain-lain serta diikuti oleh siswa siswi SD/MI dan SMP/MTs perwakilan Kecamatan. Tujuan dari pelaksanaan kegiatan ini untuk menjalin silaturahmi dan memupuk rasa persatuan dan kesatuan serta mencari bibit-bibit olahragawan di Kabupaten Cirebon dalam menghadapi event-event yang levelnya lebih tinggi. Hadir pada kesempatan itu Muspida plus, Kepala UPT Pendidikan dan guru olahraga se-Kabupaten Cirebon.
Ketua pelaksana yang juga Kepala Dinas Pendidikan Kabupaten Cirebon Drs. H. Asdullah Anwar, M.Si., melaporkan pelaksanaan kegiatan ini terselenggara berkat kerjasama antara Disbudparpora dan Disdik dengan tujuan untuk melakukan pembinaan serta meningkatkan prestasi siswa di bidang olahraga sebagai penunjang prestasi siswa disamping prestasi akademik.
Bupati Cirebon Drs. H. Sunjaya Purwadisastra, MM., M.Si., dalam sambutannya mengatakan sebagai generasi penerus dan peningkatan pembangunan di bidang kepemudaan dan olahraga sudah selayaknya kita semua mengadakan pembinaan kepada olahragawan muda untuk dibina dan dibimbing sehingga pada saatnya nanti akan terbentuk watak kepribadian olahragawan yang akan mengharumkan nama Kabupaten Cirebon baik di tingkat propinsi maupun tingkat nasional. Bupati juga berpesan kalah menang dalam setiap pertandingan itu hal biasa yang penting selalu junjung tinggi sportivitas agar terlahir atlet yang benar-benar mempunyai mental bertanding yang tangguh sehingga ketika dia kalah maka tidak akan mudah menyerah tetapi justru akan meningkatkan latihan guna menghadapi pertandingan-pertandingan yang berikutnya.
